Please find below some general information about the club and activities during the year. We welcome any feedback or questions about the club that you may have, so please feel free to contact our Chairperson.
Also make sure you are on the list to receive our regular newsletters – anyone who is registered to play will automatically go on the list, but you can add other addresses via the form at the bottom of this site. Make sure you also follow us on Facebook.
Registration must be completed online via the MyFootballClub web site and can be done prior to, on, or after registration day. It's quite easy, with a secondary step (which needs to be done first) for those without an FFA number. All details for registration are available via our registration page. If you have any troubles with this at all please contact our Registrar.
Fees for 2018 will be $170 for all junior teams, except for Development Squad which is $50. Seniors will be $220 per player. Payment is to be made direct to the club and details are included in the invoice from MyFootballClub. The Club has a ‘no pay, no play’ policy, so all fees must be paid before the commencement of the first game of the season. If you have any concerns or questions about your payment please contact the Club Treasurer.
We also accept the Sports Vouchers – please make full payment of fees to the Club and submit your Sports Voucher via your Team Manager or Club Treasurer. You will then receive a reimbursement for the $50 Sports Voucher amount. The Vouchers are available for download here.
Players will typically be allocated to the team that is appropriate for their age level. The team allocation is based on your child’s age as at the first of January in the current season, e.g., if your child turns 9 on or after January 1st in 2017 they will be eligible to play in the U9 team. If you wish to discuss team allocation please contact the Club Registrar.
Coaches and Team Managers at WWSC are all volunteers at the Club, and we ask you to consider taking on one of these roles. The Committee will provide support for you in your role and you will also receive a $50 reimbursement on the registration fee for your child. Please contact the Committee if you are interested in one of these roles. The Coaches Coordinator is Steve Knipe and the Team Manager’s Coordinator is Lee-Anne Paterson.
Training usually commences late March. Training for most junior teams will be held on Wednesday afternoons for one hour. The exact time of training for your team will be decided by your coach, in consultation with players and you will be notified accordingly. It is expected that players will attend as many trainings as they can. If you are unable to attend a training session please be sure to notify your team manager or coach. In the event of bad weather and resulting cancellation of training your coach or team manager will notify you.
Matches are held each Saturday, commencing late March. Once the fixtures are released they will be made available on the AHJSA website. It is important to check the fixture before your match as these are subject to change from time to time. There is also the ‘Game Day by SportsTG’ App that you can add to your smartphone so that you always have the schedule with you! Simply search for Woodside Warriors Soccer Club after you have downloaded and logged into the App. Please arrive at least 20 minutes before your game to allow for warm-up activities.
During the season there will be a number of home games. For these games it is the WWSC team responsibility to set up the pitch, place flags out and check nets, and run the canteen. For the Non-Competitive grades (U8, U9 and U10) the home team is also required to referee; and for other junior teams (U12 – U16) volunteers will be required for linesperson. Similarly, the last team on the home pitch will be responsible for cleaning and closing the canteen and locking the clubrooms. Your team manager will distribute a roster for these activities, so that they are shared amongst families. We thank you for supporting the Club and your child by undertaking these roles.
We ask that all players and parents support their coach, team manager and team by demonstrating respectful, encouraging and positive behaviour. The Club adheres to the Code of Conduct developed by the FFSA; this, along with other policies and guidelines, is available on the AHJSA website. The Club does not tolerate aggressive or bullying behaviour and we encourage you to approach your coach if you feel your child has been targeted in any way, or if you have any other concerns. The Club ChildSafe Officer is Linda Johnston.
It is expected that all players will play in a WWSC Uniform. The Club will provide a shirt for your child to wear for the duration of the season and we ask that these are returned to your team manager on the last match day. Shorts and socks can be purchased at the Clubrooms on most training nights. Shin guards are also required for all players, and players will not be able to play without having these on match day. They can be purchased from any sports store. We also have a ‘boot swap’ box for pre-loved soccer boots – we ask simply for a gold coin donation, or a swap for any boots in that box.
The Club Canteen will be open most Wednesday afternoons during and for a short time after soccer training. Snacks, drinks, coffee/tea and sausages, as well as other products will be available for purchase. The Canteen will also open at home games on Saturday’s. Team managers will organise a roster for parents in their team to help out in the canteen on their Saturday home games. The procedures will be listed in the canteen and simply involve sales of drinks, snacks, etc; making tea and coffee; and cooking a BBQ with sausages and/or bacon and egg sandwiches. All supplies will be available in the canteen prior to the commencement of Saturday matches.
Fundraising is important for our Club to be able to provide the equipment and facilities for our kids to play, learn and enjoy soccer. We have just a few key fundraising activities during the year that we thank you for supporting in the best way that you can.
The Club will always welcome new sponsors to the Club. Sponsorship may be cash, products for the canteen or in-kind support. We have some fantastic opportunities that will provide regular sponsor promotion amongst members and visitors to our Club. For sponsorship opportunities please visit our sponsorship page.
As with all great sporting clubs, the backbone of the club is its committee. We always welcome new committee members, and with many hands the work is lighter. So please consider being involved. For any queries please contact our Club Chairperson.
