U9 vs Strathalbyn

While it was drizzle and cold conditions for the match between Woodside Warriors U9 and Strathalbyn Soccer Club U9 White on the weekend the play was anything but dreary. Both teams hit the pitch in attack mode and a great game ensued. The ball was constantly moving from one end of the pitch to the other. Woodside continued to improve on their tactical teamwork which resulted in them snaring the first couple of goals of the match off the boot of Josh Constable who as always displayed his brilliant weaving and footwork skills. Elliot Klein proved his worth in defence and repeatedly sent the ball back into the attacking half and at one point kept the run going and took it all the way down the wing to kick a thrilling goal.

After the excitement of last week’s match Woodside Warriors U9 had high expectations as they took to the pitch to take on Stirling East U9 White. Stirling East started strong and went hard for a couple of early goals but was unable to get them past Woodside’s goalkeeper Tayisha Holt. The ball yo-yoed up and down the pitch and thanks to the persistence and excellent weaving skills of Josh Constable the Warriors claimed the first goal. It didn’t take long for Stirling East to retaliate and level the score.

U9 vs Hahndorf

Today’s game between Woodside Warriors U9 and Hahndorf U9 was undoubtedly a highlight of the season so far. Hahndorf threw down the gauntlet with a goal scored within the first couple of minutes of the match. Woodside’s players accepted the challenge and it was clear this was going to be an exciting battle. Morgan Burroughes levelled the score with a great running goal while some impressive weaving footwork from Josh Constable took him into striking distance and he too found the back of the net. The tug of war continued as Hahndorf kicked at goal and the ball managed to roll over the score line.

A brilliant sunny winter morning was quickly outshone by the sparkling tenacity of the players who stepped out on the pitch ready to battle when Mannum U9s played host to Woodside Warriors U9s. Mannum proved themselves to be competitive with some speedy, skilful players and this seemed to spur the Warriors on. Woodside showed the rapid improvement of their teamwork and communication and displayed some great passing and footwork which resulted in Woodside scoring the only goal in the first half off the boot of Eddie Moylan.
